Michael Stanton , one of southern NJ’s most active and knowledgeable field botanists, has agreed to lead a walk for us in Birch Grove Park on Saturday, September 19.
Bring your camera, your curiosity, and your willingness to learn. Michael will be leading us on a leisurely-paced stroll pointing out plants and providing ID tips and other info. And Birch Grove has always been a place where visitors can enjoy a rich assortment of native plants in a variety of habitats.
If you follow plant discoveries in the local area posted on INaturalist, you have seen Michael’s reports and photos from Birch Grove Park, EHT Nature Reserve, Forsythe NWR, and many other local botanical hotspots. He is out exploring regularly and posts his finds several times a week. (You can follow him on INaturalist under michaelnj.)
Please Note: This postpones our previously-scheduled September meeting (planned as an informal get-together to discuss tools, the drought, and other gardening issues) from September 21 until next month. That meeting will now be held on Monday, Oct 19. More info about the time and place of that October meeting will follow when we have confirmed them.
