Volunteers Needed for Planting Day at Cloverdale Farm County Park

Cloverdale Farm County Park in Barnegat received a 2026 mini-grant from the Native Plant Society of New Jersey for a project to create native gardens at the park. Park staff and volunteers have been working hard to design the gardens, select appropriate native species, and procure the plants.

Now the park is inviting volunteers from the Jersey Shore chapter to help install the gardens from 9 am to 12 pm on Tuesday, October 20th. Volunteers will be planting and watering native plants within an enclosed garden bed following a map design. Activities may also involve staking or caging new plantings as needed, applying compost, thinning existing plants, and potentially replanting thinned plants in other garden beds at the park.

The park will provide garden tools, plants, and compost. Volunteers should bring personal gardening items, such as a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellant, drinking water, garden gloves, and a knee pad if desired.

Where to Meet : In front of the visitor center (referred to as the nature center in the park map shown below).

Directions : For GPS, use 34 Cloverdale Road, Barnegat, NJ. The park is next to The Cottages at Compass Point, a large 55+ community. At the park entrance, there is a large wooden park sign, and a dirt road into the park.

Where to Park : After passing through an open yellow gate, turn right at the restrooms and follow that road into the parking lot. If the lot is full, parking is permitted along the road that leads to the parking lot. Once parked, follow the “visitor center” signs to walk up to the center, where we will meet.
