Where it came from
2 PM at the Glass House is a short film produced by Geidai Animation, the prestigious graduate program at the Tokyo University of the Arts. Established to foster independent talent, the program encourages students to push the boundaries of traditional animation, often blending technical prowess with highly personal, experimental narratives. This particular work emerged from that academic crucible, serving as a platform for emerging animators to refine their craft within a studio environment that prizes artistic vision over commercial output.
The film reflects the distinct, introspective aesthetic often associated with the Geidai department, characterized by thoughtful pacing and a focus on atmosphere. As with many works produced under this banner, the design emphasizes minimalist visual storytelling to evoke a specific sense of time and space. While not a mainstream theatrical release, it received recognition within the circuit of international animation festivals and academic showcases, where it was lauded for its nuanced composition and the technical proficiency of its student creators.
