Constellations were created thousands years ago and they have been handed down generation after generation up to now. This show focuses on this great fact. In the show, you will see instruction on constellations and movement of the sun, moon and planets against constellations. An associated story from Greek myths is provided with beautiful CG including the tale of Astraea, the goddess of justice, who is closely related to the constellation Libra.

Where it came from
A Starry Tale was produced by KAGAYA Studio in 2011, serving as a culmination of the artist KAGAYA's lifelong fascination with astronomical imagery. The project was conceived as a fulldome digital planetarium film, designed specifically to showcase the capabilities of high-definition CG animation in immersive theater settings. By blending mythological narratives with scientifically accurate depictions of constellations and nebulae, the studio sought to bridge the gap between ancient star-gazing lore and modern digital artistry.
The film's visual language is characterized by KAGAYA's signature luminous, ethereal style, which prioritizes color vibrancy and a sense of vast, quiet majesty. Upon its release, it became a fixture in planetariums globally, celebrated for its ability to transform complex astronomical data into an accessible, meditative experience for general audiences. The work solidified KAGAYA's reputation as a leading figure in the niche intersection of digital fine art and educational science communication.
