alice gear aegis Expansion: Heart Pounding! Actress Packed Mermaid Grand Prix!

Released in 2021 by Studio Nomad, Alice Gear Aegis Expansion: Heart Pounding! Actress Packed Mermaid Grand Prix! serves as an original video animation derived from the broader Alice Gear Aegis multimedia franchise. Developed initially as a mobile game, the series revolves around high-tech armored infantry known as Actresses who defend humanity against mechanical lifeforms called Vices. This OVA was produced to capitalize on the franchise's character-driven appeal, blending tactical combat aesthetics with the lighthearted, slice-of-life comedy elements that have become a hallmark of the series' adaptation strategy.

The creative direction of the production leaned heavily into the established character archetypes of the game, focusing on a beach-themed narrative that highlights the interaction between the various Actresses. By utilizing Studio Nomad's experience with character animation, the project sought to provide fans with a visual expansion of the game's lore in a standalone format. Upon its release, the project was received primarily as a niche supplement for existing players, noted for its emphasis on fan service and the lighthearted personality-focused storytelling typical of the franchise's animated spin-offs.
