Where it came from
Asa da yo! Kaishain was produced by the animation studio DLE and debuted in 2016 as a series of short segments aired on the Japanese morning news program Zip!. The series was developed as a lighthearted, relatable take on the daily grind of Japanese office workers, utilizing DLE’s signature minimalist Flash-animation style to create a fast-paced and satirical commentary on corporate culture.
The series focuses on the daily struggles and eccentricities of white-collar employees, designed to offer viewers a brief moment of humor during their morning routine. By centering on the mundane frustrations of office life—such as difficult supervisors and the desire for early retirement—the creators aimed to resonate with the professional demographic watching the news each morning, leading to a modest but consistent popularity that allowed for multiple seasons.
