Where it came from
At The Mercy of The Sky, known in Japan as Sora no Manimani, was adapted into an anime series by Studio Comet in 2009. The specials were produced as supplemental content to accompany the main television broadcast, maintaining the lighthearted aesthetic and gentle tone of the original manga series by Kashiwa Miyako. These episodes were designed to offer brief, character-focused vignettes that further explored the dynamics of the school's astronomy club.
Studio Comet focused on a character-driven art style that prioritized soft color palettes and expressive facial animation to mirror the slice-of-life nature of the source material. While the series was received as a niche entry within the high school club genre, the specials are noted for their adherence to the show's established visual identity. They served as an extension of the studio's commitment to adapting the quiet, observational humor inherent in the astronomers' daily interactions.
