Baby Titanosaur Dooly: Adventure in the Ice Star

Released in 1996, Baby Titanosaur Dooly: Adventure in the Ice Star is a feature-length animated film based on the long-running South Korean comic series Dooly the Little Dinosaur, created by Kim Soo-jung. The film emerged during a period of growth for the Korean animation industry, aiming to expand the reach of the iconic character who had become a cultural staple since his debut in 1983. The story follows Dooly and his friends on a prehistoric journey, blending the series' characteristic humor with an adventurous, high-stakes narrative intended for a family audience.

The film’s design reflects the transition of the Dooly franchise from its print roots to the technical standards of mid-90s feature animation. Directed by Lim Kyung-won, the production focused on bringing the beloved, slightly mischievous green dinosaur to life with more fluid movement and detailed backgrounds than the original television episodes. While it arrived as part of a wider effort to professionalize domestic animation, it remains most notable for cementing Dooly as a cross-generational icon in South Korean media.
