Where it came from
BanG Dream! Episode of Roselia I: Promise was produced by studio SANZIGEN and released in 2021 as the first installment of a two-part film project focused on the fictional band Roselia. The film serves as a prequel, detailing the formation of the group and the motivations of its leader, Yukina Minato, as she strives to reach the prestigious Future World Fes. It captures the franchise's commitment to blending high-energy musical performance with character-driven drama.
The film utilizes SANZIGEN's signature 3D computer-generated animation style, which was meticulously refined to replicate the intricate movements of live musical performance. Director Atsushi Mimura aimed to emphasize the emotional weight behind the band's aesthetic and sound. Upon its release, the film was well-received by the established BanG Dream! fanbase for its ability to expand the narrative depth of the Roselia members beyond their appearances in the mobile game and television series.
