Boku no Soratobu Juutan

Boku no Soratobu Juutan, which translates to My Flying Carpet, is a short animation produced by NHK. It serves as a representative example of the creative programming developed by the Japanese public broadcaster to engage younger audiences, often blending educational themes with imaginative storytelling through the medium of cel animation.

The piece reflects the mid-century aesthetic of NHK’s creative department, characterized by simple, expressive character designs and a focus on whimsical narratives. While the specific director and animator are less documented than those of major commercial studios, the work aligns with the era's tradition of studio-produced shorts designed for broadcast slots like Minna no Uta, intended to provide gentle, visual enrichment for children.
