Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki OVA

The Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki OVA was produced by studio project No.9 and released in 2021 as a supplement to the television anime adaptation of Yuki Yaku's light novel series. These episodes were created to bridge the narrative gap between the first and second seasons, maintaining the visual style and character designs established by the studio during the main broadcast run. The production sought to extend the exploration of Tomozaki's social development and interpersonal growth, following the same tone of introspective comedy that defined the original work.

The character design for the adaptation was led by Akane Yano, who aimed to translate the specific aesthetic of Fly's light novel illustrations into a functional animation format. By focusing on nuanced facial expressions and character silhouettes, the animation team maintained consistency with the source material's emphasis on the 'game-like' mechanics Tomozaki applies to real-life social interactions. Upon its release, the OVA was generally well-received by the established audience for its ability to retain the character dynamics of the primary cast without disrupting the established progression of the source novels.
