Brand New Pastel Road!

Brand New Pastel Road! is an animated short produced by Scooter Films, emerging from a mid-2000s trend in independent boutique animation. The film was created as a stylistic exploration of minimalist cel animation, intended to contrast with the increasingly complex 3D-rendered aesthetic dominating the commercial market at the time.

The visual direction was spearheaded by the studio's primary animators, who utilized a muted, saccharine color palette to evoke a sense of nostalgic comfort. Upon its limited release, the work was received by the independent film community as a technical exercise in pacing and atmospheric world-building, though it remained largely outside the mainstream public consciousness.
