CESTVS -The Roman Fighter-

Cestvs: The Roman Fighter was produced by Bandai Namco Pictures and released in 2021 as an adaptation of the long-running manga series Cestvs, originally written and illustrated by Shizuya Wazarai. The series draws its inspiration from the historical realities of ancient Rome, specifically the brutal tradition of bare-knuckle pugilism, centering on a young enslaved boy thrust into the gladiatorial arena to fight for his survival.

The animation style is notable for its deliberate use of 3D computer-generated imagery to render the combat sequences, a creative choice intended to capture the visceral weight and technical precision of the fights. Upon its release, the series was recognized for its unique blend of historical drama and sports-genre pacing, though it received a mixed critical reception regarding its departure from traditional hand-drawn animation aesthetics in favor of its distinct digital presentation.
