A slapstick comedy going back to the basic, "laughable" style of the TV series. One day, the Nohara family was looking forward to having an ultra-rich yakiniku dinner, but they were put on the Wanted List on suspicion of heinous crimes because of a scheme of a mysterious organization named Sweet Boys. The Nohara family must run from Sweet Boys' pursuit but to eat yakiniku for dinner they need to stop escaping and decide to meet the boss of Sweet Boys, who is based in Atami (a hot spring/resort city in Shizuoka Prefecture).

Where it came from
Released in 2003 as the eleventh feature film in the long-running Crayon Shin-chan franchise, this movie was directed by Tsutomu Mizushima. It emerged during a period where the series had successfully transitioned from its initial controversial reputation into a staple of Japanese family animation, blending the trademark irreverent humor of Yoshito Usui's original manga with high-stakes, surreal adventure narratives.
The film follows the Nohara family as they are wrongly accused of being members of a secret organization, forcing them to go on the run to reach a high-end yakiniku restaurant. Mizushima utilized this road trip structure to parody classic action-thriller tropes. The design and animation style remain faithful to the series' iconic, minimalist aesthetic while pushing the boundaries of the episodic format, eventually becoming a cult favorite for its clever pacing and satirical take on Japanese consumer culture.
