Where it came from
Digimon Tamers: Runaway Locomon was produced by Toei Animation and released in Japanese theaters in March 2002. As the sixth theatrical film in the Digimon franchise, it served as a brief epilogue to the Digimon Tamers television series. The narrative focuses on the Tamers attempting to stop a possessed train, Locomon, which is tearing through the human world and creating a rift between realities.
The film was directed by Masahiro Hosoda, with character designs by Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, who had been a pivotal figure in the Digimon visual style since its inception. The production aimed to provide a darker, more contained story that contrasted with the epic scale of the series finale. It was generally received by fans as a nostalgic, character-focused side story that allowed the main cast of Tamers one final adventure before the continuity concluded.
