Dino Girl Gauko Season 2

Dino Girl Gauko was produced by Netflix as an original net animation, with its second season premiering in 2020. Created and directed by Akira Shigino, the series follows Naoko Yokoyama, a young girl who transforms into a fire-breathing dinosaur when her anger reaches a boiling point. The show was developed within the context of Netflix’s initiative to expand its library of international animated content, specifically targeting younger audiences with a distinct aesthetic blending traditional Japanese anime tropes with a modern, episodic digital format.

The character design and visual direction emphasize a vibrant, expressive style that characterizes much of Shigino's work, prioritizing fluid physical comedy to underscore the protagonist's emotional volatility. While the first season established the central conceit of the show, the second season was received as a continuation of these lighthearted, surreal adventures. The series is widely recognized for its whimsical premise and its ability to condense complex adolescent social dynamics into short-form, digestible narratives.
