Provenance

Where it came from

Do You Love Your Mom and Her Two-Hit Multi-Target Attacks? is a 2019 television anime adaptation based on the light novel series written by Dachima Inaka and illustrated by Pochi Iida. Produced by J.C.Staff, the project was created as part of a wave of 'isekai' subgenre expansions that explored unconventional family dynamics within a game-like fantasy setting. The narrative centers on a high school student and his overly affectionate mother who are transported together into a video game world.

The series was directed by Yoshiaki Iwasaki, who aimed to balance the show's comedic tone with the visual aesthetics established by Pochi Iida’s original character designs. Upon its release, the series generated significant online discussion regarding its premise and the evolving trends in light novel adaptations. While it was produced during a busy period for J.C.Staff, the show remains a notable example of how production houses experimented with niche genre tropes to engage specific demographics within the anime community.
