Duo Bao Xing Yun Xing Da Dian Ying: Jin Gu Bang Chuan Qi

Duo Bao Xing Yun Xing Da Dian Ying: Jin Gu Bang Chuan Qi, also known as The Monkey King: The Legend Begins, is a 3D animated feature film produced in China as part of the broader effort to modernize classic Chinese literature for contemporary family audiences. Drawing heavily from the legendary 'Journey to the West', the project was developed to leverage digital animation techniques to retell the origin story of Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, emphasizing his acquisition of the Ruyi Jingu Bang.

The production sought to balance traditional iconography with a visual style optimized for 3D exhibition, characteristic of the mid-2010s push in the Chinese film industry to compete with global animation studios. While the film was received as an entry in the long-standing cinematic tradition of depicting the Monkey King’s exploits, it served primarily as a focused narrative for younger viewers, prioritizing accessible character design and straightforward action sequences over the complex, episodic nature of the source text.
