Where it came from
Fantasia Sango: Realm of Legends was produced by the studio GEEKTOYS and released in 2022 as an anime adaptation of the popular Taiwanese role-playing game series, Fantasia Sango. The series was developed to bridge the gap between traditional Chinese mythology and contemporary animation styles, specifically aiming to bring the narrative depth of the video game franchise to a broader television audience.
The production sought to capture the aesthetic nuances of the original games while utilizing the dynamic pacing characteristic of modern television anime. While the series attracted interest from fans of the source material, it received a mixed critical reception regarding its attempt to condense the expansive, multi-branched storylines of the RPG genre into a single-season animated format.
