Fei Ren Zai: Dongzhi Pian

Fei Ren Zai: Dongzhi Pian, or Non-Human: Winter Solstice Chapter, serves as a specialized seasonal installment within the broader Fei Ren Zai animated series. Produced by Tencent Penguin Pictures, this production continues the adaptation of the popular webcomic by Yi Zheng, which reimagines traditional Chinese mythological figures living mundane, relatable lives in a contemporary urban setting. The narrative maintains the studio's hallmark approach of blending high-concept fantasy archetypes with the mundane frictions of modern office life and social interaction.

The animation style preserves the distinct, clean aesthetic established by the original webcomic, focusing on expressive character designs that lean into comedic timing and visual gags. By centering the winter solstice as a narrative anchor, the short film leans into the cultural significance of the holiday, framing it through the lens of characters who have existed for millennia but remain tethered to modern routines. It was received as a lighthearted expansion of the franchise, praised for its consistency in maintaining the witty tone and character dynamics that have made the series a staple of the Chinese digital animation scene.
