Where it came from
From Far Away, also known as Kanata Kara, is an anime television series produced by Studio DEEN, slated for release in 2026. It adapts the long-standing shoujo manga by Kyoko Hikawa, which originally serialized in LaLa magazine throughout the 1990s. The production represents a contemporary revival of a foundational isekai narrative, focusing on the story of Noriko, a high school student transported to a fantasy world where she meets a warrior named Izark.
The adaptation aims to translate Hikawa’s distinct character dynamics and the sweeping, romantic adventure aesthetic of the source material into a modern television format. By engaging Studio DEEN, the project seeks to balance the nostalgia of the original manga with updated animation standards. The reception remains one of anticipation among long-time fans of the series, who have waited decades to see the complete narrative arc realized in animation.
