When a young boy called Hiro finds what appears to be a broken lighter in an empty field, it changes his life forever. This lighter is actually the Gold Lightan, a robot that fell to Earth from the Robot Dimension. When called upon to defend the Earth from Ivalda the Great's evil robots, Gold Lightan transforms into a giant super robot, known as the Golden Warrior. Gold Lightan joins forces with Hiro's and his gang, the One Pack Rangers to protect the Earth from the evil schemes of Ivalda the Great and his armored forces.

Where it came from
Golden Warrior Gold Lightan debuted in 1981 as the central focus of a transformable robot series produced by Tatsunoko Production. The series emerged during a golden era of Japanese giant robot animation, distinct for its protagonist's ability to transform from a seemingly ordinary golden cigarette lighter into a powerful humanoid warrior. This design approach served as a clever bridge between household object aesthetics and the increasingly popular super-robot genre of the early eighties.
The mechanical design was influenced by the trend of 'chogokin' toys, which emphasized heavy, die-cast metal construction. Because the character's form was based on a sleek, luxury lighter, the resulting toy became a marvel of engineering for its time, maintaining a seamless appearance in both modes. While the series was aimed at a younger demographic, the sophistication of the transformation mechanism earned it high regard among collectors of high-end vintage toys, securing its legacy as an iconic example of Tatsunoko's creative output.
