Goulart Knights: Evoked the Beginning Black

Goulart Knights: Evoked the Beginning Black is a 2010 original video animation (OVA) produced by the studio Lantis. It serves as an adaptation of the Goulart Knights franchise, which originated as a multimedia project involving voice actors from the agency Arts Vision. The production was conceived to bridge the gap between the franchise's music-focused origins and a more narrative-driven audiovisual experience, aiming to translate the stylized character dynamics of the source material into the medium of animation.

The animation design focuses on the gothic and fantasy aesthetic central to the Goulart Knights lore, characterized by the dark, ornate motifs typical of late 2000s Japanese fantasy media. Upon its release, the OVA was primarily targeted at existing fans of the project's music and drama CDs. It was received as a niche expansion of the franchise, noted for its specific visual style and its effort to integrate the voice cast's established personas into a unified cinematic framework.
