Gunjo Sanka

Gunjo Sanka is a seminal work by the Japanese artist and illustrator known as Mika Pikazo, primarily recognized for its role in the promotional campaign for the 2021 Project Sekai Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku anniversary. The piece was commissioned to encapsulate the vibrant, emotive aesthetic of the virtual singer ecosystem, blending contemporary pop-art sensibilities with the distinct, high-contrast color palettes that have become the signature of Pikazo’s visual language.

The design draws heavily from the themes of youthful aspiration and musical expression central to the Project Sekai narrative. By utilizing a saturated spectrum of blues and cyans—the titular gunjo—Pikazo intended to evoke a sense of melancholic nostalgia often associated with digital avatars and the transitory nature of internet fame. Upon its release, the artwork was widely praised by the fan community for its technical precision and its ability to bridge the gap between traditional character design and modern digital illustration styles.
