I'm nothing

I'm Nothing is an animated short film produced by students at the Tokyo University of the Arts, or Geidai, a prestigious institution known for fostering experimental animation. Created as part of the rigorous animation curriculum at the graduate school, the film reflects the distinct artistic freedom often associated with the department, where students are encouraged to pursue non-traditional narrative structures and unique visual styles over commercial appeal.

The film emerged from a program directed by renowned animation figures who emphasize individual voice and hand-crafted techniques. Like many works from the Geidai animation studio, it serves as a showcase for the director's specific vision, utilizing evocative imagery to explore themes of identity and existential solitude. It has been primarily circulated through international animation festivals and academic screenings, where it is regarded as a compelling example of contemporary Japanese independent animation.
