Where it came from
Released in early 2020, this original video animation serves as a lighthearted bridge between the second and third seasons of the DanMachi anime adaptation. Produced by studio J.C.Staff, the episode centers on a comedic island excursion meant to offer a respite from the series' typical dungeon-crawling stakes. It was created to satisfy fan interest in character-focused stories that highlight the camaraderie and personal dynamics of the Hestia Familia outside of their usual peril.
The narrative follows the franchise's established fantasy aesthetic, featuring character designs adapted from Fujino Omori's original light novel series and Suzuhito Yasuda’s illustrations. The production emphasizes a breezy, tropical atmosphere that contrasts with the architectural monotony of the Orario dungeon. While the episode maintains the visual style consistent with J.C.Staff's work on the broader series, it is primarily viewed as a whimsical diversion intended to expand upon the lighthearted, slice-of-life elements characteristic of the DanMachi source material.
