Every Thursday, Shuchiin Academy student council secretary Yuu Ishigami can be found in a state of anxiety. He counts down the hours until he can escape to the student council chamber to read the latest chapter of the popular seinen manga series, "Momo Doesn't Think." Joining Ishigami in his weekly reading, student council president Miyuki Shirogane swiftly grows excited at the news of a third season of the manga's anime adaptation.
However, it is only a matter of time before vice president Kaguya Shinomiya discovers what has been engrossing the two boys. With the stigma of being labeled an otaku looming over his head, Shirogane must do everything he can to keep his embarrassing secret from coming to light.

Where it came from
Yu Ishigami Wants to Chat is a series of short, comedic original net animation (ONA) segments released in 2021 to complement the third season of the Kaguya-sama: Love is War anime. Produced by A-1 Pictures, these vignettes were designed to provide further depth to the character of Yu Ishigami, focusing on his perspective and his interactions within the school's social environment. The shorts were released online to maintain engagement with the series' dedicated fan base during the lead-up to the Ultra Romantic broadcast.
The visual direction and character design for the segments maintain the aesthetic established in the main series by A-1 Pictures, emphasizing the expressive, often exaggerated comedic timing that defines the franchise. The production team aimed to capture the essence of the original manga's bonus chapters, translating Ishigami's internal monologues and deadpan humor into a bite-sized format. Upon release, the shorts were well-received by fans for successfully expanding the show's world-building without disrupting the narrative flow of the primary series.
