Where it came from
KAMUI ---He's behind you was produced by Studio WWWave and released in 2026 as part of the studio's push into atmospheric, psychological thriller anime. The series was conceptualized to blend traditional hand-drawn aesthetics with modern digital suspense techniques, aiming to subvert audience expectations regarding the typical monster-of-the-week horror formula by focusing on persistent, encroaching dread.
The creative team prioritized a minimalist visual style to emphasize the series' core theme of paranoia. Upon its release, the show received praise from critics for its unconventional pacing and sound design, which many noted played a significant role in establishing its distinct, unsettling tone. It is widely considered a notable entry in the studio's portfolio for its deliberate departure from mainstream action-oriented tropes.
