Where it came from
The Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl OVA was released in 2006 as a follow-up to the television anime series produced by Studio Hibari and distributed by Bandai Visual. The episode serves as an epilogue to the main narrative, which explores themes of gender identity and romance following the protagonist Hazumu Osaragi's transformation after a supernatural encounter. The OVA was produced to satisfy fan interest in seeing the long-term progression of the characters' relationships after the conclusion of the series' broadcast run.
The character designs for the anime were handled by Yukiko Ban, who adapted Satoru Matsubayashi’s art style from the original manga written by Satoru Akahori. The design aesthetic emphasizes soft, emotive expressions and a traditional slice-of-life visual language, which was intended to ground the series' fantastical premise in a relatable, heartfelt environment. Upon its release, the OVA was well-received by fans of the series for providing closure to the character arcs that remained unresolved by the end of the thirteenth episode.
