Where it came from
Kimi no Iru Basho, or A Town Where You Live, originated as a popular shonen manga series written and illustrated by Kouji Seo. Serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine from 2008 to 2014, the story explores the complexities of long-distance relationships and the maturation of its protagonist, Haruto Kirishima. Seo crafted the narrative to resonate with readers navigating the transitions of youth, moving from a rural upbringing to the challenges of metropolitan life in Tokyo.
The series is noted for its dramatic emotional arcs and the detailed, expressive character designs characteristic of Seo's style. Following its success in print, the manga inspired a television anime adaptation produced by Gonzo in 2013.
