Korasho no Kaitei Wakuwaku Daibouken!

Korasho no Kaitei Wakuwaku Daibouken! was produced by TMS Entertainment as a feature-length film installment in the long-running Korasho franchise. First introduced in 1997 through the Benesse Corporation's Shinken Seminar educational materials, the character of Korasho serves as a friendly, red, land-dwelling red panda who acts as a mascot for primary school students. This 2019 film expands the scope of the series by transporting the familiar characters into an underwater adventure, designed to balance entertainment with the pedagogical mission of introducing scientific concepts to younger audiences.

The production maintains the aesthetic identity of the Korasho series, which prioritizes bright, high-contrast character designs and accessible animation suitable for the early elementary demographic. By integrating the educational values of the Shinken Seminar curriculum into an adventurous narrative, the film aims to foster curiosity about marine biology and ecology. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a niche educational offering within the Japanese market, valued by parents and educators as a trusted vehicle for supplemental learning rather than as a traditional commercial blockbuster.
