Where it came from
Released in 2017, Kuroko no Basket: Oshaberi Shiyou ka is a special audio-visual release associated with the popular sports manga and anime franchise by Tadatoshi Fujimaki. The project was created to provide fans with a more intimate, conversational experience with the characters, diverging from the traditional high-stakes athletic narratives of the main series. It serves as a commemorative piece intended to deepen character engagement through voice acting talent, focusing on the personalities and dynamics between the central members of the Generation of Miracles.
The production leans into the 'character song and talk' genre common in Japanese media franchises, prioritizing the voice actors' performances over traditional animation. It was designed to highlight the camaraderie and banter between the leads, maintaining the aesthetic and tone established by the original anime studio, Production I.G. Upon release, it was received as a nostalgic expansion of the series, catering primarily to the established fandom by offering a behind-the-scenes perspective on the characters during their downtime.
