LBX Girls

LBX Girls, known in Japan as Soukou Musume Senki, was produced by studio A-CAT and released in 2021. The series serves as a reimagining of the Little Battlers Experience (Danball Senki) franchise, shifting from its original focus on male protagonists and mecha combat to a premise involving young women equipped with armor based on the series' iconic LBX robots. The project was conceived as part of a broader multimedia expansion aimed at revitalizing interest in the intellectual property for a modern audience.

The aesthetic and character designs were crafted to blend the tactical, robotic motifs of the original series with contemporary anime character design trends. While the series sought to leverage nostalgia for the LBX brand, it ultimately received a mixed critical reception, with observers noting its significant departure from the tone of the source material. It remains a distinct, albeit polarizing, entry in the franchise's history, representing the studio's effort to blend established mecha lore with the popular subgenre of girls-as-weapons storytelling.
