Ling Yu: Zhuiyi Pian

Ling Yu: Zhuiyi Pian, or 'Spirit Realm: Reminiscence Chapter', serves as a specialized entry in the broader Ling Yu series produced by iQIYI. Originating from the popular web novel genre that defines a significant portion of modern Chinese streaming animation, this title was crafted to expand the lore of the main series by focusing on character backstories and thematic depth. It emerged as part of the studio's broader initiative to bolster its original animation catalog, utilizing 3D computer-generated imagery to maintain visual continuity with the main narrative arcs.

The animation reflects the industry-wide shift toward high-fidelity 3D aesthetic models intended to compete with international studio outputs. While the primary Ling Yu series focuses on high-stakes cultivation and action, the Zhuiyi Pian installment was designed to provide a more intimate look at character motivations and historical contexts within the franchise. It was received by the domestic fanbase as a supplementary effort that balances the series' signature rapid-fire combat sequences with a more deliberate pacing focused on emotional character building.
