Long Shidai

Long Shidai, also known as Age of Dragons, is an original net animation series produced by Youku, one of China's primary digital streaming platforms. Released as part of a strategic push to expand the studio's portfolio of high-quality, domestic 3D animation, the series was developed to cater to the growing appetite for fantasy narratives that blend traditional Chinese mythological motifs with modern CG visual effects. It represents the platform's broader effort to compete in the high-fantasy animation market, moving beyond serialized adaptations to create standalone intellectual property.

The production leans heavily on advanced motion capture and character modeling techniques designed to satisfy a demanding audience accustomed to high-fidelity gaming graphics. While the aesthetic reflects the industry-standard polish of contemporary Chinese 3D animation, the series aims for a distinct visual identity through its creature design and world-building. Upon release, it was received as a significant technical showcase for Youku's production capabilities, intended to build viewer retention within the platform's proprietary ecosystem.
