Lovedol, or Lovely Idol, is a girl group consisting of two generations of idols. The 3rd Generation is about to make its debut, but to their surprise, they have been delayed! The vague reason is only that "they lack something." The manager, and the 3rd Gen. girls too, must find the answer.

Where it came from
Lovely Idol, released in 2006 by the studio AIC, emerged during a period when the idol anime subgenre was beginning to gain significant traction within the otaku market. The series follows the journey of three aspiring idols who attempt to navigate the challenges of the Japanese entertainment industry, blending elements of music-focused drama with lighthearted, often surreal comedic sensibilities typical of the mid-2000s anime landscape.
The character designs were handled by the studio to emphasize the vibrant, archetypal aesthetics popular at the time, aiming to build a relatable yet aspirational appeal for the intended demographic. While the series maintains a niche status among collectors and historians of mid-2000s animation, it is remembered as a product of the transitional era before the massive industrial surge in idol-themed media that would occur in the following decade.
