Where it came from
Lucky☆Orb feat. Hatsune Miku was released as a promotional music video and single in 2012, serving as a collaboration between the virtual singer Hatsune Miku and the Japanese apparel brand E hyphen world gallery. Created to celebrate the brand’s fifth anniversary, the project was designed to bridge the gap between digital pop culture and mainstream fashion, utilizing Miku’s aesthetic to appeal to a broad demographic of fans and shoppers.
The visual direction and character design for the video were led by the artist YKBX, who sought to translate Miku’s iconic blue-green palette into a sophisticated, futuristic urban landscape. By focusing on a high-energy, neon-infused aesthetic that felt distinct from typical VOCALOID music videos, YKBX aimed to elevate the brand's profile. Upon release, the collaboration was noted for its polished production and its success in normalizing the presence of virtual idols within non-traditional retail spaces.
