Mahou no Yousei Persia: Escape!

Mahou no Yousei Persia: Escape! was produced by Studio Pierrot and released in 1987 as a direct-to-video original animation (OVA) following the conclusion of the television series. The project served as a concluding coda to the magical girl narrative, allowing the creative team to revisit the character of Persia as she adjusted to life after the events of the main show. It occupies a distinct space in the studio's mid-1980s catalog, representing the transition period where television anime series frequently received follow-up OVA treatments to satisfy a dedicated domestic audience.

The character design for the franchise was handled by Akemi Takada, whose distinct, graceful aesthetic defined the look of many Studio Pierrot heroines during this era. Takada's approach emphasized soft, expressive lines that aimed to capture a sense of youthful wonder while maintaining the sophistication expected of the studio's aesthetic. Upon its release, the OVA was well-received by fans of the series, functioning as a nostalgic epilogue that maintained the tonal consistency and visual identity established by the original 1984 broadcast.
