Maido! Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku

Maido! Urayasu Tekkin Kazoku was produced by Studio DEEN in 2014 as the second television anime adaptation of Kenji Hamaoka’s long-running gag manga series, which originally debuted in Weekly Shonen Champion in 1993. The series serves as a continuation of the franchise’s legacy, focusing on the hyperactive and chaotic life of Kotetsu Osawagi and his eccentric family in Urayasu, Chiba. The production sought to capture the series' signature rapid-fire, surreal humor through a distinctive visual style that emphasizes exaggerated expressions and slapstick animation.

The character designs and direction were aimed at maintaining the frantic energy of the source material, which is well-regarded in Japan for its subversive approach to the family-comedy genre. By the time of this 2014 release, the franchise had already established a dedicated following. The series was generally received as a faithful expansion of the original manga’s tone, appealing primarily to viewers who appreciate the absurd and often crude comedic sensibilities characteristic of Hamaoka’s writing style.
