It has been 10 years since then. Humanity awaits a new fate.
Once humanity was on the verge of destruction at the hands of the evil scientist Dr. Hell and his underground empire. Kouji Kabuto, his Mazinger Z super robot, and his friends at the photon power laboratory put an end to Dr. Hell's evil ambitions, and returned peace to the world.
It has been 10 years since then. Kouji has followed his father and grandfather and now walks the path of a scientist. He encounters a mysterious life form buried in a giant structure buried deep below Mt. Fuji. A new encounter, a new threat, and a new fate await humanity. And Kouji, who was once a hero, makes a decision for the future.
It can be a god or a demon.
Once again the future is entrusted to Mazinger Z.

Where it came from
Mazinger Z: INFINITY was produced by Toei Animation to commemorate the 45th anniversary of Go Nagai’s seminal manga and anime series. Released in 2018, the film serves as a direct sequel to the original 1970s television run, bridging the gap between classic super robot aesthetics and modern narrative sensibilities. The production aimed to honor the legacy of the original series while utilizing contemporary 3D CGI techniques to render the mechanical action with a scope and fluidity that was not possible during the original era.
The project was directed by Junji Shimizu, who sought to maintain the emotional core of the Koji Kabuto narrative while introducing high-stakes global stakes fitting for a modern cinematic event. The character and mecha designs were handled by a team that balanced the iconic silhouettes of the 1970s originals with refreshed, high-detail mechanical textures. The film was well-received by international audiences, earning praise for its nostalgic reverence and its ability to act as both a tribute to the foundation of the giant robot genre and an accessible entry point for new viewers.
