Milky☆Highway

Milky☆Highway was released in 2022 as part of a promotional campaign by KADOKAWA, designed to showcase the creative synergy within their media ecosystem. Developed as an original net animation (ONA), the project functioned as a stylistic bridge between the publisher's established character brands and a more experimental, high-energy digital aesthetic. Its production was intended to serve as a visual showcase for contemporary animation trends, utilizing vibrant palettes and rapid editing techniques that cater to modern streaming audiences.

The animation reflects the collaborative spirit of KADOKAWA's creative divisions, which often task in-house teams or commissioned artists with developing short-form content to drive engagement for their wider literary and manga catalogs. While it serves a functional role as a promotional vehicle, the visual direction focuses on fluid movement and character-driven charm, prioritizing a polished, accessible look that aligns with the visual identity of the publisher’s popular light novel adaptations. The project was received primarily as a celebratory piece, highlighting the studio's ability to maintain high production values within short-form, digitally-distributed formats.
