Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans was produced by Sunrise and premiered in 2015 as the fourteenth main installment in the long-running Gundam franchise. The character designs were handled by Yu Ito, whose aesthetic lent a distinct, slender appearance to the cast, while the mechanical designs were spearheaded by a team including Naohiro Washio, Kanetake Ebikawa, and Ippei Gyoubu. These designs were characterized by exposed mechanical frames and heavy industrial plating, reflecting the resource-scarce setting of the show.
