Moer Zhuangyuan 2: Haiyao Baozang

Moer Zhuangyuan 2: Haiyao Baozang, also known as Moer Scholar 2: Treasure of the Sea Demon, emerged during the late 2000s as part of a wave of Chinese animated feature films aimed at capitalizing on the growing domestic market for children's entertainment. Produced by the Beijing-based studio Beijing Moer Culture, the film served as a direct sequel to the original Moer Zhuangyuan, continuing the adventures of characters designed with an aesthetic typical of the era's flash-animated series. It was intended to blend light educational themes with fantasy-adventure tropes, reflecting the studio's desire to position their intellectual property as a staple for a younger generation.

The character design and visual direction were crafted to maintain continuity with the television series that preceded the franchise's shift to the big screen. The creative team focused on vibrant color palettes and simplified character models to appeal to primary school audiences, though the film faced a challenging critical reception common for independent animated features of the time. While the series successfully carved out a niche presence in domestic markets, the production is frequently noted by collectors of regional animation history for its role in the early development of China's modernized commercial animation industry.
