Mogitate Marina-chan

Mogitate Marina-chan is a two-episode original video animation (OVA) series produced by the studio Five Ways and released in 1999. It emerged during the late 1990s, a period defined by the prolific production of adult-oriented animated works for the home video market in Japan. The project falls into the genre of lighthearted, character-driven animation that aimed to capitalize on the popularity of specific character designs during that era.

The production sought to establish an engaging aesthetic through its character modeling, which prioritized a playful and approachable visual style typical of late-nineties niche animation. While the title is relatively obscure within the broader history of the medium, it serves as a representative example of the independent studio output of the time, documenting the design sensibilities and narrative trends prevalent in the direct-to-video market at the close of the twentieth century.
