The aspiring heroes of UA Class 1-A have been given a new training opportunity during their winter break: To establish and maintain their own professional Hero Agency on the idyllic island of Nabu far off the coast of Japan. There, they'll experience the everyday travails of being heroes, for the first time without the support of their instructors or chaperons. It's a challenging assignment, but one the plucky students of UA are more than equipped to face – that is, until the arrival of a team of villains lead by the ruthless Nine and his eerily familiar quirk. Cut off from any backup and facing their greatest threat yet, it's up to Deku, Bakugo, and their classmates to face unspeakable danger to protect not only the people of the island, but the future of all Hero society.

Where it came from
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising was produced by the animation studio Bones and released in 2019 as the second feature-length film in the popular My Hero Academia franchise. The project was conceived as a canonical expansion of Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga, with Horikoshi himself overseeing the production and providing original character designs. It was intended to showcase the full potential of Class 1-A working together on an isolated island setting, providing a narrative bridge that allowed for higher-stakes action sequences than the standard television format typically permits.
The film was directed by Kenji Nagasaki, who maintained the high-octane aesthetic established in the series, emphasizing dynamic combat and fluid character motion. Artistically, the studio leaned into their signature bold lines and vibrant color palettes to highlight the quirks of the protagonists and the formidable antagonist, Nine. Upon release, it was well-received by fans and critics alike, praised for its technical animation quality and for successfully translating the emotional beats of the source material onto the big screen.
