Where it came from
Wife Theater was released in 2016 as an original video animation (OVA) episode bundled with the limited edition of the tenth volume of the My Wife is the Student Council President! manga series. Produced by Studio Seven, the episode functions as a companion piece to the television anime adaptation, designed to offer fans a more intimate look at the domestic life of the series' central couple following the conclusion of the broadcast run.
The animation maintains the aesthetic established by director Hiroyuki Furukawa, focusing on the lighthearted, romantic comedy elements that define the source material created by Yumi Nakata. As a direct-to-video production, the episode leans into the fanservice-heavy tropes characteristic of the series, catering specifically to the established readership of the monthly magazine Comic Rex.
