Negima!? Magister Negi Magi: Spring

Negima!? Magister Negi Magi: Spring is a 2006 original video animation produced by the animation studio Shaft. It serves as a side story within the broader Negima!? series, reflecting the studio's stylistic transition during the mid-2000s toward the highly stylized, experimental visual aesthetic that would later define their work on projects like Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei and the Monogatari series.

The production was helmed by director Akiyuki Shinbo, whose artistic direction emphasized sharp character silhouettes, surreal background compositions, and a distinct color palette that diverged from the more traditional character designs seen in earlier adaptations of Ken Akamatsu's manga. While the series as a whole elicited mixed reactions from fans of the original source material due to these significant creative departures, the OVA is often noted by animation historians for marking a pivotal shift in Shaft's creative identity.
