Where it came from
Netosis is an original video animation (OVA) produced by the Japanese studio An♥Tekinus and released in 2021. The work emerged from a niche segment of the independent animation scene, focusing on experimental visual storytelling and surrealist themes that characterize the studio's broader output. It was conceived as a standalone short-form project intended to explore the intersection of biological motifs and digital aesthetics.
The visual direction for the piece emphasizes a minimalist, high-contrast palette, reflecting the aesthetic sensibilities typical of the studio's creative leads. By prioritizing atmospheric tension over conventional narrative structure, Netosis was received primarily within enthusiast circles as a stylistic exercise. Its design choices serve to ground the abstract premise in a tactile, albeit uncanny, digital space, marking it as a deliberate effort to push the boundaries of the OVA medium.
