Where it came from
No Guns Life Season 2 was produced by the acclaimed studio Madhouse and premiered in 2020 as a direct continuation of the series adapted from Tasuku Karasuma's seinen manga. The narrative remains firmly rooted in the hardboiled cyberpunk aesthetic, following the protagonist Juzo Inui, a '13th' Extended soldier whose head is a giant revolver. This season serves to further explore the complex political landscape of the Reconstruction Bureau and the moral consequences of transhumanist technology within the show's gritty, noir-inspired world.
The production maintains the visual identity established in the first season, characterized by dark, industrial imagery and sharp, angular character designs that mirror the brutalist architecture of the setting. The series was designed to evoke classic detective fiction tropes while layering them with dystopian science fiction elements. Reception of the second season focused on the show's commitment to its atmospheric tone and the continued evolution of Juzo's struggle against the corporate-controlled society he inhabits.
