Where it came from
Odoru Sennen Kazoku, or The Dancing Thousand-Year Family, is a 2006 television anime series produced by the studio PartsCraft. It emerged during a period of experimentation within the medium, characterized by an avant-garde approach to narrative and visual composition that challenged conventional storytelling structures typical of mid-2000s anime productions.
The series is noted for its idiosyncratic art style and surrealist plot, which chronicles the experiences of a family living across an extended, non-linear timeline. Despite its creative ambition and distinct aesthetic direction, the project received a niche response upon its release, ultimately remaining a cult curiosity rather than a mainstream success.
